Hi Resin Crafters! This is Kelli, from the Craft Shack popping in again today to share a super fun summer style resin craft. Very few things say summer more to me than the beach. These fun seas pendants are simple to , and you can your own custom silicone mold to reuse over and over again. It’s simple to do! First, you’ll need to the seas molds. Start by taking equal parts of the two silicone putty components. Mix part A with part B and knead until there is no more visible white. Once it’s mixed, you only have 3 minutes to work, so you’ll need to work quickly. Next, lets our Seas Pendants! Mix your epoxy to cast in the molds. Mix equal parts of the Resin and the Hardener. Stir for 2 minutes. Pour mixture into a clean cup, and stir for an additional minute. Be sure to always wear gloves and eye protection when handling Epoxy. Once your epoxy is mixed you can tint or dye it to whatever colors you want to the ss. Or you could just use the pretty transparent seass for decoration. They would look pretty with a sea foam green colored dye, like sea gl seass! I love that the red and blue resin mixed when I poured them into the molds to create a pretty purple ombre effect. What color would you your seass? Take your mixed putty, and form it around the seas, leaving an opening in the putty where the seas opening is also. Squish it onto the seas real good to give your seas pendants great definition. Before your three minutes is up, be sure to press the mold onto the table to form a flat side so that your mold doesn’t tip and fall while you’re filling it later. If you don’t get a flat side on your mold (I didn’t on some of mine!) don’t worry, you can prop the mold up ok without it. It’s just simpler with the flat end. Allow the mold to cure for at least 25 minutes. When it feels firm and dry, you can bend it carefully and pull your seas out. Don’t use too much force, or it will tear.

Molded chocolates, whether for serving on their own or as an edible garnish for cakes and desserts, add an elegant touch to the sweets tray. Pliable, smooth-textured silicone molds work especially well for chocolate because they are durable, reusable and they create a flawless surface. Silicone molds also work incredibly well because the pliable material ensures the molds bends rather than the chocolate when attempting to extract the sweet creation. Begin with dark chocolate, milk chocolate or chocolate pastilles made especially for candy making and molding. Silicone molds for chocolate must have a perfectly smooth interior. Any bubbles, pits or imperfections will transfer to the surface of the chocolate. Abraded or scratched molds give the finished chocolate a dull appearance. Avoid washing the molds with abrasive cleaners or scrubbing pads to keep the molds in good shape while avoiding dull finished chocolates. Molds made from food grade silicone with a tin or platinum cure are best for chocolate, with the platinum cured varieties featuring the smoothest interior for the glossiest finish on the molded chocolates. Chocolate requires melting over indirect heat, followed by a tempering process that ensures it cures with a glossy exterior and crisp texture. A metal bowl set above the simmering water in a double boiler melts the chocolate without scorching it. Begin by melting three-fourths of the chocolate needed. Use small chopped pieces of chocolate and stir constantly as it melts, heating it to about 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the chocolate is smooth and the temperature has been reached, remove it from the heat and add the remaining chocolate, stirring it in until it's melted and the temperature has dropped to about 80 degrees. To finish the tempering of the chocolate, heat the chocolate again in the double boiler to between 88 and 91 degrees for dark chocolate, or 86 and 88 degrees for milk chocolate. Chocolate...
